1983 - 2008
The National Media Museum first opened it’s doors as the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television on 16 June 1983. This year we’re celebrating our 25th anniversary.
We’ll have a 25th Anniversary display on Level 5, a selection of 1980s treats in TV Heaven and lots of fun arts and crafts activities for all the family to enjoy.
As part of our 25th anniversary celebrations, in October 2008, the museum will present the first MediaFest conference. We will debate and explore how society has consumed, created and participated in the media over the past 25 years. With sessions hosted by notable figures from the world of media we will provide a platform for discussing critical issues. What predictions can we make for the future of the media industries in the next 25 years?
Tickets will be on sale in August 2008.

Display
To celebrate our 25th anniversary we have created a display that tells the story of how the Museum began and how it has grown and developed. 25 years of exhibitions, new galleries, famous guests, film festivals and significant additions to our collections are covered with never before seen photographs, TV footage and interviews.
