Behind the Scenes
The National Media Museum is part of the National Museum of Science and Industry (NMSI) - a non-departmental public body which is independent of government. Find out more about NMSI, its Trustees, plans, policies and financial reports on our NSMI - a Family of Museums page.
The Museum receives Government funding through the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS). A condition of this grant is that entry to the Museum must be free, and while it finances our core daily operations, we rely on additional income to fund the Museum's programme of events and any new developments.
We raise additional income in two ways:
Donations from our visitors and supporters will become increasingly important as we attempt to address the gap between the funding we currently receive, and our ambition to become the best museum in the world for inspiring people to engage with, create, and learn about media.
Find out how you can show your support by making a donation to the Museum.
The Museum is run by the Strategic Leadership Team led by the Museum's director Colin Philpott, which is guided by the Trustee Advisory Committee chaired by Michael G Wilson OBE.
