German Expressionism and German Cinema
Please note: This event has been cancelled.
The dominant Expressionist style of 1920s European film was both distinctive and hugely influential. The great film noir cycle in Hollywood is especially indebted to this movement. This Study Day will examine the contribution of these films and the way that their influence can be seen in other cinemas, right through to the present day. Includes a screening of Fritz Lang’s Destiny (Der Müde Tod, 1921) with a musical soundtrack.
