Ken Russell: Enfant Terrible of British Cinema
Sadly Russell passed on in 2011, but he left behind a distinctive body of work made for both cinema and television. This includes his early mould breaking films like the BBC Monitor Elgar (1962), the shocking and violent The Devils (1971) and the great rock opera Tommy (1975).
Russell's output was usually characterised by imagination, excess, movement and music. This study day will feature some of the memorable sequences from his films and offer discussion of his place in the pantheon.
Includes refreshments and screening of Women in Love (15).
