Film at The National Media Museum

We celebrate and interpret the world of film in a variety of ways.

Our Pictureville and Cubby Broccoli cinemas regularly screen the best contemporary and classic films, and frequently welcome guests from the cinema industry to talk about their work. We pride ourselves in projecting films as they are meant to be seen, in a range of historical and modern formats from Cinerama three-strip to digital. Information on the films we screen, and many others, can be found in our online database.

IMAX

Our large screen IMAX cinema offers a daily programme of exciting large format films in 2-D and 3-D.

We organise three major film festivals every year - the Bradford International Film Festival in March, the Bite the Mango Festival in September and Bradford Animation Festival in November.

Our Animation gallery on Level 5 covers over a hundred years of animation with fascinating exhibits drawn from the Museum's collection, studios and animators such as Aardman, Bob Godfrey and Joanna Quinn.

Pride of place goes to our Cinematography collection - ranging across cameras, projectors, magic lantern slides, drawings, posters and documents - that traces the history and prehistory of cinema. It is housed in Insight, our Collections and Research Centre.
