A young student shows great potential as a ballet star. She is torn by her love for dance and her love for a fellow student with great potential as a composer. However, a famous impresario takes her under his wing and makes her a star. Arguably Powell and Pressburger's finest film, The Red Shoes is a delight from beginning to end. This new digital restoration, which brings out Jack Cardiff’s wonderful use of Technicolor, confirms the film’s increasing critical reputation.
