Charles Dickens' classic coming of age novel returns to the screen in a beautiful new adaptation.
Opening in striking style on a foggy Christmas Eve, six-year-old orphan Pip encounters convict Magwitch, who scares the young boy into stealing food for him. Soon Pip's fortunes begin to change, and Magwitch returns unexpectedly to his life.
Directed by Mike Newell (Four Weddings and a Funeral), this is a fine and very star-studded version of a story that never tires in the retelling.
