The pursuit of sex destroys a suave and successful New Yorker in director Steve McQueen's exhilarating second feature. Michael Fassbender plays relaxed, well-groomed businessman Brandon, whose addiction to sexual pleasure threatens to consume him just as his 'normal' relationships travel in frustrating circles. Brandon's carefree but troubled sister Sissy, staying with her brother, should be a normalising influence, but can she save him from himself?
Provocative and both beautifully filmed and performed, Shame is a stunning film which lingers long in the mind.
