![]() Two groups of young people - one living in Leeds, in West Yorkshire in the UK, and the other living in Crossroads in Cape Town, South Africa have photographed their lives, including their families, friends, homes, hobbies and schools. The photographs have then been forwarded, along with images from their family photograph albums, to the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television, so that they can be included in this website - South Africa Dialogues. Through photographs and text, South Africa Dialogues offers an introduction to the lives of young people in two very different communities. Their lives are represented through their own photographs, and with their own words. Similarities emerge, as do differences, but throughout the site the viewer can see the pride that each has in their own identity, community and lifestyle, and an impressive eagerness to share their stories. The young people in South Africa worked with artist Elizabeth Williams and Gill Cowan from the Western Cape Education Authority in taking and collecting their photographs. In the UK the children worked with Jo Booth from the Education Department of the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television. A significant contribution has also been made to the site by Dr. Marcus Power, a Human Geographer from the School of Geography at the University of Leeds. Dr Power provided the background and context information that can be found on the site about the two regions. This website has been developed in conjunction with Finland Dialogues.
