Britons at War

Teaching Resource for KS2 History, ICT and English, featuring archive photographs and film of World War II

Welcome to the Britons at War website.

Britons at War is an e-learning resource to support KS2 History, English and ICT, featuring archive photographs from the photographic archive of the Daily Herald newspaper at the National Museum of Photography, Film & Television (NMPFT) and unique archive film footage from the Yorkshire Film Archive. Funded by Yorkshire Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (YMLAC), the site is a rich and original e-learning resource providing photographs, film and supportive text plus ideas for classroom lessons and project work linked to the KS2 history schemes of work for Britons at War. There is background information about each image and film, questions to ask the children, ideas for further development and the facility for you to create and save your own powerpoint lessons for teaching.

QuickTime

QuickTime is the player you will require to play the video used on this web site. If you are unable to view the video, please contact your ICT coordinator for help. Please remember that video files are larger than normal image files and require more time to download onto your computer. The speed at which this happens depends on your Schools connection to the Internet, once you have watched a video, it should load quicker in the future. We strongly recommend that all video and image files are accessed prior to a lesson so not to interrupt the teaching flow.

To access ready made presentation files, please view the presentation page.
