LEARNING

INTRODUCTION

This part of the website provides case studies of some of the actors, photographers and images from the different periods covered in the exhibition. There are biographies of actors Marlene Dietrich, Elizabeth Taylor and Jude Law, and of photographers Clarence Sinclair Bull, Bob Willoughby and Jaap Buitendijk, as well as an opportunity to practice image analysis skills on photographs of Clark Gable and Angelina Jolie. In addition, there are web links and a list of relevant publications for further study.

These resources and activities are aimed at those studying film, media or photography at GCSE, A level or degree-level. They can be used to explore the key concepts underpinning Media Studies at GCSE and A Level and are particularly relevant for the AQA GCSE Media Studies controlled test (2010) on the popular press, AQA A Level Media Studies MEST1 and MEST3, WJEC A Level Media Studies MS4 (Film option) and WJEC A Level Film Studies FM2. They can also support the development of the skills required to meet A02 for AQA and WJEC GCSE Art and Design (Photography).
