The National Media Museum is pleased to announce the successful recipients of the second annual Photography Bursaries. Established to support photographers to create or continue with new work and develop their profile, the Bursary fund of £20 000 has been divided between seven photographers.
2008 saw a fifty per cent increase in applicants and the final selection represents both the range and diversity of applications and, photographic practice in the UK today.
The judges of the 2008 Award were Pierre Brahm (Chairman of the BRAHM and Henry & James Property Group), Zelda Cheatle (WMG Photography Advisor and Curator), Simon Crocker (Chairman of The John Kobal Foundation), Philippe Garner (International Head of Photography, Christie’s Auction House), Greg Hobson (Curator of Photographs, National Media Museum) and Neeta Madahar (artist and 2008-09 Bradford Fellow in Photography).
Curator of Photographs, Greg Hobson said 'It was a real pleasure to see that, not only has the number of entrants for Bursary Awards significantly increased, but also the standard of creative photography in the UK remains consistently high.'
