Wednesdays 7 May - 19 June
During this course, we will look at Gene Kelly's important contribution to the muscial genre, his collaborations, how he compares with his peers, and his unique character.
Monday 21 May
This talk will trace out some of the character and generic features that recur frequently, and reach their apogee in Kelly and Donen's On the Town.
Sunday 27 May
Ex-cons Veeru and Jai are hired by a retired police officer to capture notorious bandit Gabbar Singh. Regarded by many today as the greatest Indian film of all time, Sholay is enormous fun.
Saturday 16 June
Following the Screentalk with Director Harley Cokeliss, there will be a screening of his postapocalyptic tale of a world ripped apart by oil wars where gasoline has become a precious commodity.
Sunday 24 June
Filled with color, grand effects, and with a lush, exotic score, Raymonda tells the tale of a French noblewoman betrothed to a knight of the Crusades, and her attempted abduction by a spurned Saracen rival.

Be the first to see Alfred Hitchcock's early British masterpiece The Lodger, restored to its former glory by the BFI National Archive and presented with live music accompaniment by Nitin Sawhney and the London Symphony Orchestra.
