TV Heaven
The first of its kind in Britain, TV Heaven is a unique viewing facility where you can access an archive of more than 1000 programmes from the last sixty years of British television history. Our TV Heaven collection highlights television's enduring capacity to inform, educate and entertain.
You'll find classic comedies, hard-hitting documentaries, family favourites and memorable dramas – there really is something for everyone. Simply select a programme from our catalogue and watch it in your own viewing booth, for free!
Private booths can accommodate 2-5 people, while our 39-seat Viewing Room is ideal for group bookings and educational visits. Visitors are welcome to call in to TV Heaven at any time during Museum opening hours, and viewing spaces can be booked in advance by contacting the box office on 0844 856 3797.
Please note that school groups can only be accommodated in the large Viewing Room, and all viewing spaces are fully accessible to wheelchair users.
There's more to TV Heaven than a highly entertaining and informative viewing experience. We regularly hold public talks and events in our Viewing Room, giving you the opportunity to delve deeper into themes and issues surrounding the historic programmes in our collection.
Genesis of the Dalek
Keeping watch over the TV Heaven gallery is our full size replica of a 1975 Dalek - one of the mutant aliens from the television series Doctor Who. The Daleks are a huge hit with viewers and as synonymous with the programme as the Time Lord himself.
Read about the evolution of the Daleks, from their creation to more recent manifestations, and have your photograph taken with the Doctor's greatest enemy – but don't get too close!
