A unique, stimulating and thought-provoking event that considers the effects of edgy and often controversial cinema such as the ‘mondo’ phenomenon.

Documentaries

The documentary has been rejuvenated in recent years. This year’s Bradford Film Festival has received a bumper crop of submissions and we are delighted to be able to screen the best.

Family Films & Workshops

Morning kids’ screenings, workshops on drawing, drama and animation, storytelling sessions and a three-week film school.

Film & Music Conference

Academic paper sessions, a round-table discussion and a keynote interview with a leading practitioner of film music. This year’s special guest is the internationally acclaimed film composer Michael Nyman.

Focus Slovenia

Our annual showcase of cinema from an emerging European state this year focuses on Slovenia, a small cinematic powerhouse considered by many industry folk to be “the most consistently impressive national cinema in Europe today”.

Industry Weekend

A weekend of events and masterclasses for the region’s filmmakers offering vital networking opportunities between filmmakers and industry professionals. Sessions include the two-minute pitch, in which wannabe directors pitch their big idea to a panel of experts. Book now to avoid disappointment!

The Shine Award

The Shine Jury will convene on March 4 to select the best new short film from the hundreds submitted to BFF every year. The Shine Award will be presented on March 18 – the final day of the festival.

TV Heaven

Our annual trawl through the vaults. Gems this year include early Eric Sykes comedies, TV plays by Ken Loach and documentaries on Joan Crawford, Sean Connery, Ingrid Bergman and Doris Day.

Us, You and Them

An entire day dedicated to films by and for filmmakers with learning disabilities. This event is presented by BFF2006 in association with Mind the Gap and Oska Bright on Tour.
